NYCTOFILM_a Screendance

At university I was tasked with creating multiple Dance films for the ScreenDance module, With this dance film, I was working on the premise of taboo feelings in art. In this I took inspiration from the codes and conventions of the Horror genre of filmic media. I wanted to create a phobia triggering film, to tackle the norm of happy and exciting, pretty and beautiful dances, I wanted to create something ugly, something grotesque. One of mthe many feelings I worked with, is the feeling of drowning, the liquid I used, was milk, with the charcoaled face of my main performer Ellie Grey, it offered a high contrast image that would invert nicely. It was marked quite highly so I can rest assured knowing what i created, was disgusting.
